Lamps E27: types, application. Base E27. E27 (lamp): types, characteristics and applications

Bulbs burn out frequently

Now there are a lot of lamps, with different types of fixtures. This is GX53, and GX70, etc., E14 or E27 are also found. Many of these abbreviations are introduced into a small stupor, and they do not know how to choose the right base for their chandelier or lamp, they only know the marking of the base and that's it! Today I will continue to talk about the most popular types of lamps (the first article was) and of course today the most popular E27 base ...

A little definition

plinthE27 (or in USA and Europe "ES" -Edison screwthis is the most common base in the post-Soviet space. It just so happened that in the USSR 90% of electric lamps were produced, which contained cartridges for lampsE27. If you parse the abbreviation letter by letter "E27", which means - "E "- the type of base in our case, it is threaded, invented by Edison. "27" - means the diameter of the base in millimeters. That is, it turns out - Edison's threaded base is 27 mm in diameter.

I would like to note that these are the most common lamps in our understanding of the word. It all started with the Ilyich lamp, and then there was an electric revolution, but it was made with these ordinary lamps.

Benefits of the plinth

I would like to note that this base is the most versatile, even in the most distant village in the most seedy barn (where there is electricity), there is an E27 base. Therefore, if you have such a lamp, then you will definitely “get” the light.

Also, this type of lamp is the cheapest of all. Even if you take energy-saving ones, they will cost less with this base than with others.

It is the E27 base that can withstand very powerful lamps up to 300 - 350 W in the equivalent of an incandescent lamp. If you calculate the equivalents in LED lamps, then the luminous flux from them can reach several hundred lumens (Lm). The rest of the household plinths are not able to withstand such a voltage.

The era of LED lamps

Now, of course, electricity is growing in price, so incandescent lamps are leaving, they are being replaced by LED or LED lamps. However, again, the E27 base is the most common and manufacturers that produce LED lamps, all because in our time there are a lot of lighting equipment based on this particular type of base.

Now a short video

And that's all for me, I hope now you have firmly fixed the information received.

With all the variety of lamps and cartridges for them, the Edison screw, a screw-type base, is still the most popular. Among them, respectively, the E14 and E27 socles, which operate from a 220V network, come first.

With such a part, almost all types of light bulbs are produced - halogen, LED, luminescent, energy-saving. The same can be said about the varieties of lighting fixtures, ranging from work lamps to industrial garlands.

Marking

In the catalogs, the screw-type base is marked with the designation EXX, where:

  • E - type (Edison screw, English Edison Screw);
  • XX - base diameter (cartridge width).

So, for example, E14 means that this is a light bulb with a screw base and a cartridge width of 14 mm, respectively, the difference between E14 and E27 is only that in the second case the diameter is 27 mm.

In order to use light bulbs with different sockets on one lighting device, an adapter / adapter is provided.

Taking into account the fact that E27 is a standard version of the base part, most of the adapters are adapted specifically for it. At the same time, there is a wide variety of lamps on such a minion, which we will now consider.

Incandescent lamps

Due to the elementary design, high power and minimal cost, this sample is considered the most popular not only in Russia, but throughout the world. The standard cartridge on E27 is used in all types of lighting fixtures and in any conditions. When using an adapter, plinths with smaller or larger diameters can easily be used.

Even taking into account the low cost, this type of device is gradually losing its position. This is due, first of all, to a very short service life, the fragility of the tungsten filament and the rapid clouding of the bulb. Moreover, the incandescent lamp has a large consumption of electricity, which further reduces consumer demand.

Light transmission index - 85%. The maximum service life is 1000 hours under ideal conditions. In reality - no more than 600 hours.

If there are no critical requirements for the quality of lighting, you can limit the supply voltage by using a diode connected in series to the lamp circuit.

reflex

The same principle of operation, but instead of a transparent glass bulb, a silver-plated bulb is used, which, on the one hand, increases the service life, on the other hand, gives directional light. This is a handy option for table lamps, sconces and other lighting fixtures where a narrow glow is required.

Reflector bulbs with an e27 base can be bought with bulbs of different sizes, so you need to find out in advance the difference in diameters and, if necessary, use an adapter.

The diameter of the flask is indicated on the lamp itself and is marked:

  • R80 etc.

More than 95% of products of the reflective type are produced in one color - yellow, due to which the glow has a warm tint that imitates sunlight.

Light transmission index - 90%. The actual service life is about 700 hours, the manufacturers claim 1000 hours, but this is again in ideal conditions.

Halogen

A number of halogen products have an e27 base, respectively, its thread is ideal for classic cartridges that are in every home. No adapters or other adapters are needed to screw in a halogen bulb. From ordinary lamp incandescent is distinguished by production technology, more powerful characteristics and service life.

Halogen in terms of price and quality today occupy a central niche.

The light transmission index is 100%. Service life - 4000 hours. It does not shrink during shaking, the flask does not become cloudy, light transmission is maintained throughout the entire period of operation due to the use of bromine and iodine in the production. The brightness level is 25-30 lm/W.

Thanks to the innovative production technology with a filament containing halogen gas, this category of products is available in all sizes and with different bases, due to which it is used not only in domestic and industrial lighting, but also in cars, service stations, decoration, etc. priority - maintaining brightness throughout the life of the product and low power consumption.

energy saving

This is a whole line of products designed to implement energy saving regulations. But it is under this term that most often they mean a miniature fluorescent lamp E27. Due to the very limited consumption of electricity, such products are very popular all over the world, especially in Europe, where they are very sensitive to costs.

Due to the standard base, suitable for any classic cartridge, the use of fluorescent light sources is recommended both in everyday life and in production. With the simultaneous inclusion of 20 points, the consumption per day is only 2 kW.

The light transmission index is 100%. Brightness - 20-25 lm/W. Service life is 4000 hours. It is used in all lighting fixtures, including automotive. Depending on the scope of use, you can buy small ones with an E27 base and huge ones for lighting production and storage facilities.

Color temperature is classified into the following categories:

  • < 3300 К (Кельвин) - White light;
  • 3300-5000 K - neutral;
  • > 5000 - cold.

The service life of luminescent devices is shortened by frequent switching on/off.

The disadvantages of this variety include the high cost and the inability to use a power rheostat (dimmer). Only 5 manufacturers in the world, including Philips, specialize in the manufacture of dimmed fluorescent products, but in very limited quantities.

The advantage is 0 heat dissipation, so that more powerful lamps can be used in standard lampholders. For example, if the base type is e14, then you can buy an ecola high power without the risk of violating the power limit in the cartridge.

VIDEO: How to save electricity? Comparison of LED and energy saving lamps

LED

This product can be called the most perfect in terms of energy savings. Even compared to halogen and fluorescent, the savings exceed 50%, not to mention the LN, which consume 4 times more energy than LEDs. Moreover, LED lamps with e27 base have a high brightness - 35-40 lm / W and an extended service life - 6000 hours. But today it is not the most popular product due to the high price ( LED lamp candle from 490 rub. a piece).

LED strips are used for decorating and zoning rooms.

dimmed

A kind of LED devices where you can change the brightness from 5 lm/W to 30 lm/W to create a comfortable environment and save energy.

Due to the original design and minimum consumption (less than 5 W), dimmed ones are more popular. At the same time, pay attention to the manufacturer - led osram navigator consume exactly that much, unlike Chinese counterparts, which "burn" from 15 watts and above.

The choice of lighting fixtures today is practically unlimited. Adapters are provided to change from one type to another. Some of the products come with dimmers, due to which you can save even more energy.

VIDEO: How much electricity LED lamps E27 really consume

Not so long ago, the most common lamps that were used for lighting in every apartment were the familiar Ilyich bulbs with a screw base and a power of 100 watts - such a lamp even alone gives enough light, for example, for a kitchen or pantry.

NEW!!! 3D LED LIGHTS - There is always a place for magic in life...

Times are changing, technology is developing, LEDs are replacing the spiral of Ilyich's lamp, users are increasingly looking for an answer to the question of which LED lamps to use for a house with an e27 base, an analogue of a 100 W Ilyich's light bulb. In other words, more and more people want to know how to find an equivalent replacement for an ordinary light bulb so that this transition is as imperceptible as possible.

Why is it so important? Not only because the eyes get used to the same lighting over the years, and when it changes abruptly, a person feels uncomfortable. Too bright light can tire the eyes, and for example, "cold" lighting, which is often used in offices, is good for stimulating performance, but is not suitable for a relaxed home evening.

In general, there are a number of nuances that did not concern us at all while only Ilyich's bulbs shone at home, but which should definitely be taken into account when choosing LED lamps for the home. Fortunately, these moments are not so many, and they are easy to remember.

Base e27

The standard base, which is equipped with 100-watt incandescent lamps, is marked e27. The letter E here means that this base is threaded (the so-called "Edison screw", after the name of its developer), and the number indicates the diameter of its connecting part.

LED lamps with e27 base are easily suitable for fixtures in which you previously used conventional 100-watt incandescent bulbs.

Colorful temperature

This parameter determines how comfortable you will feel in a particular lighting. It is measured in degrees Kelvin (K).

An ordinary incandescent lamp has a color temperature of 2800 K, which is considered "warm white". The color temperature is always indicated on the packaging of any LED lamp, and if you need an analogue of an incandescent bulb, then choose those designed for 2700-3500 K.

Power

Since LEDs are energy-saving, they should not be chosen by power (it will always be less than that of Ilyich's light bulb), but taking into account another characteristic - luminous flux, which is measured in Lumens. For an incandescent lamp, this will be about 1600 Lm, which approximately corresponds to the luminous flux of a 12-18 W led lamp. All manufacturers have different figures, so we give approximate figures. In stores, as a rule, analogues with a power of only 9 watts are issued for 100 watts.

At the same time, the luminous flux may depend on the manufacturer of the light bulb, its shape and other parameters. You can always find the information you need on the package.

The form

Other things being equal, an e27 LED lamp does not necessarily have the same shape as an incandescent bulb. It can be round, spherical, elongated, etc. In some cases, this moment will also have to be taken into account - for example, a ball-shaped lamp may not fit in the ceiling, where an ordinary “hundred-watt” light bulb was previously installed.

Also pay attention to the cooling size of the LED lamp. Due to it, it can have more weight and size, which may be important for some lamps.

If you want an energy-saving light bulb to even look like a familiar incandescent bulb, take a closer look at the lamps. According to their characteristics, they are identical to conventional LED ones (and they must be selected according to the same parameters), but they have a transparent bulb, and the filaments themselves are very similar to an incandescent filament, as in Ilyich's light bulb. Also, filaments do not have a radiator.

Corn Bulb Selection

Another type of LED lamps is corn (“corn led bulb”). It got its name because of its resemblance to a corn cob. Such a lamp is always elongated, and the LEDs are located on its sides, fixed on metal plates (for heat dissipation).

Corn lamps are produced with or without a bulb, while experts believe that models with a bulb should not be taken - they often overheat and fail much faster, since LEDs cannot stand the temperature increase.

Corns also include lamps on COB - LEDs. The technology of their production in general terms resembles filament ones, since here there is also a substrate on which there are many LEDs coated with a common phosphor. It looks almost like traditional corn, but instead of individual LEDs, you can see solid yellow-orange plates on its faces.

Such light bulbs are considered the most powerful of corn and the brightest. In addition, their appearance is much more pleasing to the eye, unlike simple corn, which does not even come close to resembling an ordinary incandescent light bulb.

But there are also disadvantages. For example, large size. To get a brightness of 1300-1400 lm, you need to use a lamp with dimensions of approximately 150x70 mm. For comparison, a typical 100-watt light bulb is 108 mm long.

If you decide to save money when buying LED ones, and order them in a Chinese online store, then be prepared for the fact that the declared characteristics in reality will turn out to be about two times less. This applies to brightness, and power, and life. In addition, Chinese led lamps are often assembled with violations of all conceivable and unimaginable technologies, and you are unlikely to be able to make claims about the quality of the goods later.

What is the result?

Technology is advancing and it makes a person keep up with the times. Using LED bulbs really saves energy. The cost is still high, but do not forget, thanks to a large lamp, the lamp will pay off the initial investment, and then start saving you money!

Choosing led light bulbs with an e27 base for your apartment, pay attention not to their power, but to the base, color temperature, luminous flux and dimensions.

Try to purchase European-made products, they are considered the highest quality. Second in this ranking are Russian manufacturers, as well as Russian-Chinese ones. But made in China in its purest form (especially aliexpress) will most likely let you down, despite the significant difference in cost. Therefore, it is better not to mess with them, especially if you do not have the skills to repair lighting equipment.

When buying another lamp or chandelier, it would be useful to pay attention to the base that they use. Venerable manufacturers of such devices adapt even to the most exotic types of lamps. The most popular lamps that are used in homes and offices have an E27 base.

It produces halogen, LED, energy-saving and other models for various household and technical needs. The designer range of lamps with an E27 base is also wide: decorative lamps, pompous or modest chandeliers, sconces, industrial garlands and much more.

Consider the main varieties of such lamps and try to classify them.

incandescent lamp

The classic E27 incandescent lamp is a massive and most popular product around the world. The model received its recognition due to its extremely low cost and simple design. This solution is most familiar to most users. The E27 incandescent lamp is used almost everywhere and in a variety of types and types of lighting fixtures.

Despite such an enviable popularity, this type is noticeably inferior in technical terms to its more advanced counterparts: a tungsten filament can burn out in a matter of days, and the bulb becomes cloudy after some time. That is, here we have a very short service life and gradually decreasing brightness.

reflex type

Also on sale you can find a subspecies of incandescent products - E27 reflector type lamps. They differ from the usual models with a special surface, where instead of the usual coating we will see a silver-plated surface. This moment allows you to focus the light in the right place. The solution will come in handy if you need a directional glow.

Reflector lamp E27 (220V) comes with flasks of different sizes, so before buying it would be useful to pay attention to the maximum allowable diameter in your lighting fixture. The size must also be indicated on the bulb itself - R50, R63, R80, etc.

Incandescent products have a color rendering index of 90%. The main gamut inherent in incandescent lamps and prevailing in most models is yellow. Due to this, the luminous flux is very similar to ordinary sunlight. Service life - about 1000 hours.

Halogen products

E27 halogen-type lamps have exactly the same threaded base and are mounted without any problems in classic cartridges that everyone has in a house or apartment. This type differs from its younger incandescent counterpart in manufacturing technology. In addition, the service life of the E27 halogen lamp is noticeably longer than other analogues. You can also add a good price / quality ratio here, and we get a universal product for any need.

E27 halogen lamps can last up to 4000 hours and have a color rendering index of 100%. In general, a little bromine or iodine is used in the production process of these products, which allows you to get a better light output. The latter ranges from 20-30 lumens for every watt used. Moreover, the level of brightness, unlike incandescent analogues, is maintained throughout the entire operational period.

Due to the technology used, such products can be much smaller and with different power sources (E27 lamp, 12 volts), which greatly expands the scope of their application: cars, service stations, shop decoration, etc.

Energy-saving lamps

Very often, the term "energy-saving" refers to a small E27 fluorescent lamp. These models are wildly popular not only among domestic consumers, but throughout the world, thanks to modest energy requirements.

These products became especially relevant after the increase in electricity tariffs. Experimental tests have shown that fluorescent lamps energy-saving type have a fairly bright light, but at the same time they practically do not rotate the electric meter. The product is suitable for any classic cartridge in a modern apartment and is sold everywhere.

Features of energy-saving lamps

In addition, the features of the technologies used in the production allow experimenting with sizes - from extremely compact household to large industrial options. Models of different capacities and shapes are available for sale. It will also be useful to note that products of this kind are distinguished by a long service life and effective brightness. The only thing worth clarifying is that frequent on / off lamps reduce its life.

LED lamp

LED products can be called the next step in the field of energy saving. If we compare these lamps with halogen and incandescent models, then we have a savings gain of 75%. For the current conditions, this figure is quite impressive.

And the point here is not only in savings, but also in visualization, that is, the output light is of better quality in comparison with analogues. The cost of LED products is much higher, but even in view of the obvious savings and better light output, they are not in proper demand.

Such lamps are used to decorate rooms and create comfort. With a competent design approach, you can add certain notes to any interior. Here we are talking about restaurants, offices, some commercial companies and various other enterprises.

Dimming

Dimmable lamps are one of the subspecies of LED products. The presence of this feature allows you to change the brightness of the lighting in the room, which allows you to save more on electricity. Here you can also note the convenience and originality of this design. For example, a 15W dimmed LED lamp with an E27 base actually consumes about 5W. The only thing worth clarifying is that this applies only to high-quality models from famous brands, and Chinese consumer goods will burn all 15 or even more watts.

Summarizing

One of the main characteristics of lamps (including those on the E27 base) is the luminous flux. It is measured in lumens, and this indicator has recently been used instead of power. Even the simplest and cheapest LED products from the Celestial Empire consume ten times less energy than incandescent lamps from venerable manufacturers.

For example, the same incandescent models give out a luminous flux of about 12-14 lm for each watt used. While LED solutions can increase these figures up to 200 lm, therefore, first of all, pay attention to the indicator of the intensity of the luminous flux, and only then the power and everything else.

Also, it would be useful to pay attention to the flicker coefficient of a particular model. For incandescent lamps, it is not important, and LED products may differ on this point. On branded models, it may not be indicated - they already have everything in order with this coefficient, but for Chinese products, be sure to check this point, because things are not the best here.

In addition, some manufacturers endow their products with some level of protection: from water, dust and other external influences. Such data, as a rule, are indicated on the packaging, and there you can also find data on the operating voltage of a particular lamp. The domestic consumer mainly buys models for a standard 220 V network. 12-volt products are intended mainly for the European market or some specific tasks.
